Henry "Hal" Contee Bowie Clagett, 93, a 15 year resident of Davidsonville, died Feb. 1 at Anne Arundel Medical Center of Pneumonia.
He was born Nov. 22, 1916 in Washington D.C. He attended Western High School in Washington DC, Post graduate school in Herersburg Academy, Pa. and later went on to attend Princeton University, Law School in Georgetown.
He Served in WWII as a fighter pilot, Pacific Theater, Colonel US Army Air corps and Squadron Leader in the Air National Guard at Andrews Air Force Base. He later was an Attorney at Sasscer, Clagett, Channing, Bucher in Upper Marlboro for over 50 years.
He was a Past President and treasurer of the Maryland Bar Association and Past President of the Maryland Horse Breeders Association. He was a member of Senior Vestryman Trinity Episcopal Church in Upper Marlboro. His hobbies included being a thorough Horse breeder with several times leading breeder in the State of Maryland and a Host at the Marlboro Hunt Races at Roedown Farm every year.
He is survived by one son, Hal C.B. Clagett III of Upper Marlboro; one daughter, Elizabeth G. Clagett of Arnold; one step-son, Grant Hubley of Calif., three step-daughters, Julie Levy, Season Hubley, Sara Hubley Beekan of Vt.; two grandchildren, Wesley and Grace; and 6 step-grandchildren.
